October 9, 2011 Dear: KEZ and Rio Salado College Excellence in Education Program Im taking this time to nominate a very special teacher that I had when I attended Alhambra High School. It has been sometime since I was in high school and we did not have an Excellence in Education Program to recognize teachers back then. This is why I'm taking the honor to recognize a very inspiring teacher Mrs. Laurie White. She was my Sports Medicine Teacher. Mrs. White is a teacher who truly makes a difference with her students. I was a very shy and quiet student in high school. Mrs. White took the time to help me work through my difficulty in speaking in class. She always encouraged me to attempt and answer one question in her Sports Medicine Class. She also encouraged my classmates to cheer me on each time I answered a question in class. Mrs. White truly wants all of her students to fulfill their goals with great success all the time. You can always count on Mrs. White to be there from the beginning to the end. She is there before and after school to help students. Besides being a special teacher she is also a great athletic trainer. She oversees the schools sports teams and takes sincere pride in making sure all of the athletes receive good care of their injuries. Mrs. White's teaching legacy continues as she teaches health science and anatomy/physiology class at Xavier College Prep High School. I know she is still making a difference in both her teaching and athletic training skills. I hope you all can see why Mrs. White truly should be honored as your next Excellence in Education recipient. I do Thank you for taking time to read my nomination and hope to hear from you all with awesome news. Sincerely, Michelle Cantelme
