My children describe Mr. Jonathan as: funny, smart, silly, friendly, a great cook, a leader, a singer, an artist, an impressionist, a story teller, a coach, and as the best teacher in the world! I describe Mr. Jonathan Clauss as an inspiration to all who know him. He is extremely intelligent, humble, accepting and nurturing; however, he is so much more than that. He has been the special needs teacher to each of my children. Mr. Jonathan is kind, tolerant, patient, compassionate, strong and energetic. Mr. Jonathan uses more teaching strategies than I knew existed. His room is known as the Disneyland of Laveen because it is the happiest classroom on earth. Children are busy working together at discovery centers, families are interacting at literacy nights and attending great weekend field trips to the Greater Arizona Puppet Theater, the Science Center, the Phoenix Children's Museum and too many other locations to mention. Mr. Jonathan does it all with an ease that is magical. There is even a class sound track! Mr. Jonathan maintains a wonderful website complete with photos, movies and reminders for the students and their parents. I love seeing what is going on with Harvey the Hamster and knowing what his suggestions are for great show and tell items based on the lessons of each week. Mr. Jonathan also serves on the committee to ensure that Laveen grows in the right direction. He not only works in Laveen; he lives there too. Mr. Jonathan is bilingual and translates if needed for parents. He is dedicated to his profession. This year he earned a grant to improve technology in the classroom.
