Elmer has had cancer since 2003. It started in the colon and traveled to other areas of his body. He has gone through radiation, surgery, cyber knife oblation therapy, and continues to go through weekly chemotherapy. Elmer’s wife Tess works two jobs just to keep their heads above financial disaster. They have one son who is a junior in high school. But despite his circumstances, Elmer is the most positive person I have ever met. He focuses on life and the world around him. Should any negative situation show itself in conversation or in his activities of daily living, he will not remain focused on the negative. Somehow, he changes his focus or attitude and quickly identifies with some positive topic or other life situation and soon begins to laugh. He brings out smiles in other people who may or may not even know of his physical condition. I wish his attitude could be bottled up and shared with the world! Imagine what this world would be like if everyone in it had a positive attitude about life.
