Beverly Hall

My mother Beverly is the strongest person I know. At age 26 when I was 6 and my sister was 8 she had to go into the hospital to have a hysterectomy, we would find out when we were older it was because she had cervical cancer. Age 39 right before my sisters wedding she found a lump in her breast that she put off until long after the wedding, which was breast cancer resulting in the loss of her breast 8 months later. Age 56 with pre cancer cells showing up in her other breast, she had that one removed. Age 62 my mom was diagnosed with ovarian and thyroid cancer. After 2 more surgeries we would wonder what next. Never once has she asked why me, or complained about anything. She is always helping everyone else in the family or friends. She will do anything for anybody, no matter how she is feeling. She is always upbeat, positive and wakes everyday with a happy attitude. She has made many monetary contributions as well as giving her time to raise money for any cancer. My mother gives me strength to get up each day. My mother has spent the last 2 years taking care of my father who passed away in November 2011 from complications from Alzheimers, being by his side daily. She would help out at the assisted living facility he was in daily to spend time with him and to make sure he was getting the proper care. She put her health care on hold since she wanted to be there everyday for my dad. My mother is my inspiration with her positive attitude and smiling face. Now we will celebrate her 73rd birthday on May 21st, she has alot of living yet to do and hopefully she can do it cancer free.

Deborah Vigness
