My sister, Norma Ward, was diagnosed with cancer five years ago. She had no idea that she was so ill. She got sick one day, was taken to the hospital, and by that evening I was told that she had three months to live. My sister began her fight by taking aggressive measures. She ate only healthy, organic foods, sought out a homeopathic doctor, and prayed daily, meditated on positive thoughts, and after a long and very difficult battle, she was pronounced cancer free. The doctors told her it was a miracle since the cancer was all over her ovaries, uterus, and entire back area. During her battle, she suffered a stroke, lost her hair and large amounts of weight. As a family, we never gave up. We REFUSED to accept the diagnosis, and moved forward with blind faith. On one of our recent excursions to Flagstaff for a weekend reprieve, I decided to share with her what the doctor told me that night. She was shocked and asked how I was able to live with the news. I told her "the same way you were living with the cancer.... one day at a time and with blind faith to lead us forward." My sister is a survisor! She is also my hero. Giovanna Jane McDermott Signed, |
