Roderick Prast

Dear Son: Often we take life's miracles for granted...We don't always recognize them when they occur and we are not grateful enough! I'm speaking of our son, Roderick. He came early into this world October 17, 1954, weighing 2 lbs.,2 oz, dropping to 1 lb.,15 oz. and in a premature center in Peoria, IL for 2 1/2 months until he developed and fought to get to 5 lbs! We loved this miracle in 1954--a rare occurance. Now we have seen Rod deal with the (NHL) Non-Hodgkins lymphoma that affected him in 2010. After 2.3 yrs. of fighting this cancer with destructive chemotherapy treatments, his physical strength, faith, and will to live--he has gone into remission, continuing to (amazing) work throughout this ordeal, as he has all long--as a firefighter. His oncologist has said that he could do---only that 5% of the population could do! His determination during this 2+ year period handling treatments--helped him persevere with all the adverse side-effects and inspire all who know him and care about him. Such a miracle to combine all the forces of Rod's heritage, will to live, his own faith, and belief in God and his perseverance/tolerance & fighting spirit to win this battle! As his parents, Ron and Carolann, we salute you Rod. We are proud of your accomplishments in your personal and professional life, and with your faith; and you will continue to win this battle with cancer! One Son---Two Miracles! With all our Love, Dad and Mother 20th August, 2012

Signed,
Ron/Carolann Prast
