Alex is not only my hero, he is an inspiration to myself and many others. Alex was born with cancer. He was 12 days old when he was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma. He has 7 tumors in his right eye and 3 tumors in his left eye. He has had over 75 surgeries, with the last one 2 1/2 years ago. Alex does not know life without cancer and is reminded of it every day. Because of the location of the tumors, he is visually impaired. But he doesn’t let that slow him down. On Dec. 7, 2012 he will be 12yrs old. Alex has shared his experience at the Maricopa Relay for Life, in front of about 500 people, the last 2 years. He tries to give back anyway he can. He is currently growing his hair out so he can donate it for a cancer survivor wig. He is a very outgoing boy that will talk to anyone and everyone. He has so much love to share. He is an outstanding boy and I am very proud of him. He has inspired me to become a stronger person and a more caring person. I am very proud to say, Alex is my son. Signed, |
