Just when we were nearing retirement, the bottom fell out, my husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and had his entire esophagus removed, along with the top part of his stomach and his stomach moved up into his chest area. Later when getting a PET scan, he was diagnosed with kidney cancer, they removed part of his kidney. We were very lucky having selected Mayo Clinic at the time even though it was out of network. It has been 6 years and although he struggles daily (everything he eats bothers him) and can't lie flat (no flap, stomach acid enters his mouth and burns) he has survived to see his grandchildren growing up. He can't work so he helps out with the kids all the time, God sure does have plans for us unlike our own I guess. We are blessed. Signed, |
