In addition to founding Arizona\'s largest one location swim school SWIMkids USA, Lana started Blake\'s Miracle Foundation after the loss of her grandson to leukemia in 2006. Lana coordinates Blake’s Miracle’s annual swim-a-thon which has raised over $120,000 for drowning prevention programs and Cardon\'s Children\'s Medical Center. Lana’s mission in life is to teach the importance of active movement on early brain development and on school readiness. In addition to integrating these methods into the SWIMkids USA curriculum, she speaks locally and internationally about water safety and about the benefits of swimming and of movement on early brain development; she has written four books on those subjects. Lana has many accomplishments: growing SWIMkids USA from a backyard pool to 2400 students over 40 years; speaking at conferences around the world, recently in the People to People Citizen Ambassador Programs\' Sports Medicine Delegation to China; authoring four well-researched books; and being honored with the Humanitarian Award from the U.S. Swim School Association (USSSA). Lana touches everyone she meets: her students, her staff, other swim school owners, her community. With her students and staff, she helps them achieve their potential by studying their learning styles and building on their strengths. Active in the USSSA’s Champion’s Club, she teaches other swim school owners about swimming’s benefits on brain development, so that they can teach others. Signed, |
