Sharon is our new principal at Mesquite Elementary in Gilbert. Since the day I met her, at the beginning of the year, I could tell that she was in education for the right reasons. She wants to help students and teachers be successful at school and in life. She WOWS me on a daily basis. She is holding the kids accountable for their actions, but is also working hard to get to know all of them by having lunch with various students once a week, by the end of the year she will have eaten with all of them. She is working hard to get help for those students that need extra help because it is the right thing to do. Every single time some one does something for the school she says thank you. She writes ALL staff members little handwritten notes about how much she appreciates us. They even have cute stickers on them! She has started some exciting events at our school like a chili cook-off and an ASU/UofA rivalry day to build community and morale among staff members, students and families. She dressed up as a dog for Halloween and led the "Book Parade", which the kids absolutely loved! She has volunteered to host our holiday party at her house and is even making us some hams, which she has never made before. She has invited people over to her house to make them feel included and loved. She has bought some staff members lunch and sat down and ate with them and told them how much she appreciates their hard work. Our bus drivers are also raving about how good of a principal she is because she is making the kids that ride the bus behave themselves. With all of the demands that are on schools today she is working hard to make sure everyone is doing the right thing, but also making sure the staff is happy and supported. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated woman as our leader! We LOVE YOU Sharon! Signed, |
