I know my mom is the woman that deserves woman of the year for many reasons. She has been a single mom since my dad died when I was just a few months old. I know being a single mom and a widow is not easy. She does both jobs of a mom and dad. She gave up her career to stay home and care for me...i have had some medical issues and she was with me every step of the way. My mom is deserving because she has been volunteering since I was born and got me involved as well. We both committ to 30 hours a month or more. She now fosters military dogs, when soldiers are deployed we care for their pets until they return. A way of saying thanks for serving us, I want to help as well. She volunteers at Mi Casa nursing home and bakes for the residents when their own families do not even come to see them . My mom cares and spends time with them. She helps the homeless in Mesa, giving them care packages and even helping them apply for benefits. She volunteers at 2 animal shelters and serves as a foster for homeless and abused pets. If everyone did 1/2 of what my mom does the world would be a better place. She puts me first, the pets 2nd, her volutneering 3rd and herself last. She deserves to be #1 for a change and that is why I am nomination her today. Thank you! Dakoda
