WATCH: John Mayer Pranks Jimmy Kimmel's Audience

John Mayer played a trick on an entire TV audience. In case you missed it, the singer appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" earlier this week, spending the whole show performing with the band dressed as someone named Hank "The Hawk" Knutley.

Decked out in a bandana, fake beard and latex beer belly, Mayer sat in the the Cletones, and even joked with the host, promoting his fake album "Knutley In Your Face!" featuring songs with titles like "Trapped in the Garage," "Trapped in the Garage Part Two," "Watch Your Mouth" and "Stabbed to Life."

Eventually, Mayer removed his getup and joked about being depressed about his competition. "Ed Sheeran is killing it right now," he said. "And I thought maybe if I played a different person, I could get another chance to make it." He then performed his latest single, "Still Feel Like Your Man," from his upcoming album "The Search For Everything," which comes out on April 14th.
