The speculation has become true. Hawaii will extend its quarantine for travelers until September 1st.

Originally, Hawaii had planned to welcome visitors without having to quarantine for 14 days on August 1st. Anyone arriving in the Islands would have to produce a recent negative COVID-19 test.

On Monday, Governor David Ige announced the date change saying that if Hawaii opened too soon, the state could see a major surge in coronavirus cases that would put a major strain on the local health care system.
