The Wallow wildfire has burned more than 180,000 acres so far. And the containment on the fires is about ZERO percent! A number of towns have been evacuated, and it is still a threat to others. This morning Beth spoke to Pauline Merrill, owner of The Rendesvous Diner. Click here to hear her account.

The parking lot on the old Ramada Inn site in downtown Phoenix is green. Why, you ask? Well, because it is covered with a special reflective coating that can help reduce temperatures on concrete and asphalt surfaces, according to its maker, a Scottsdale company, Emerald Cities USA.

Your Memories of Bill
Please click here to leave your comments about Bill. Thank you from KEZ!
June 2nd 2011, marked one year since the death of our beloved friend, Bill Austin. KEZ and all of us here at Beth & Friends still miss him just as much as ever. We continue to ensure that his wonderful memory lives on in the hearts of all those he has entertained and inspired.
On the show yesterday, we played many classic Bill moments, and we took your calls and e-mails on the air. We also talked about the Bill Austin Memorial Scholarship! (At ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication) The first one was just awarded to ASU student Jocelyn Botero. The scholarship was established by ClearChannel Phoenix.
And thanks to spiritandword.org for adding to this scholarship helping it to live on in perpetuity for years to come!
It's a celebration of Bill's life. In pictures, video, and of course.. the radio!
Have fun with all the "Bill stuff" below. We'll be adding more all day!
Bill AUstin Legacy COntinues
Bill Austin’s legacy of giving continues one year after death with $15,000 to Valley Charities through Spiritandword.org
June 2nd marked the one year anniversary of Bill Austin’s passing. Now, Austin’s legacy of “giving back” will continue on through Spiritandword.org, “Bill’s spiritual philosophy was simple: Be good, do good,” says Beth McDonald, longtime friend of Austin’s and co-host of the Beth and Bill Morning Show. “Spiritandword.org is a way for his passion for charity work and commitment to helping others to live on by providing an online resource for people to explore their own spirituality and desires to ‘do good’ through a virtual, non-denominational community.”
SOME OF THE BEST OF BILL
The Birthday Corner was always a favorite because so many people requested Bill do a certain impression...sometimes a name struck Bill funny and he'd go off from there. I still laugh when I hear this... Listen to this clip ( Click Here ) of birthdays past..
Bill was so good natured that he could take anything and find humor in it. This happened to be at Beth's expense... Bill just couldn't picture Beth camping. Click Here to listen...
Click Here to hear Bill tell the story of a chimp that has a smoking addiction.
Snoring-and the Titanic Toilet Seat...You'll just have to listen - - ( Click Here ) ...it's worth it!
Bill had a daily segment we called " What's This World Coming To"- WTWCT was a list of stories you can't make up....really odd, funny stuff....this story is about a constipated elephant. TOO FUNNY!! Click Here

Hospice of the Valley
Dr. Franc Brodar from Hospice of the Valley joined us this morning, He was the physician who was with Bill during his stay at Hospice of the Valley. He had some kind words to say about Bill and his time with him.
Also, Spirit and Word.org made a donation of $5,000 to Hospice of the Valley!
Bill on the Big Screen If you've never seen "Cookin' with Beth & Bill" then you're in for a treat! (Just be careful about eating it.) It was a raucous, fun, crazy good time involving food & drink. How could ya go wrong? It was on KTVK for 8 years! Check out the Youtube playlist below. There are three "Seasonin' Reviews." Sink your teeth in and enjoy!
Here's a rare little gem from way back! Circa 1985 in fact. It is an old promotional advert for Channel 12 when Bill Austin was a TV Broadcaster.
Warning: This is very cheesy, and VERY 1980's. :) Enjoy!
Here's a classic TV spot for Beth & Bill and KEZ 99.9. This must have been fun to shoot! Not so much to clean up though..

Winemaker's notes: In the beginning days of their winemaking, the Juvé y Camps family had their own reserve of this cava, the only Brut Nature that they made. Later, it was released to the market under the same name and with the same careful creation. This cava is produced from the free run juice of Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada grapes harvested on the estate's properties at Espiells, Can Massana and La Cuscona. It is the best known of Juve's cavas and still their only Brut Nature.
George Takei
George Takei Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. That takes you back, doesn't it? Well, this most likely is not George Takei's final voyage but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go see him. George will be at the Phoenix Comicon this weekend, May 26-29 at Phoenix Convention Center & Hyatt Regency. Click on picture to visit the Comicon website and for the schedule to see George Takei.
Oh boy... Well, it looks like new details just keep emerging with Arnold's "love child" debacle. Some photos were just released of Arnold's family at his love-child's Christening 10 years ago. Seems kind of awkward that he would have his wife and kids pose like this! And yes, that is Arnold teaching his son how to master a putt-putt swing. How did he keep this a secret from his family, friends, and fans for over 13 years??
Chris Byrne
Chris Byrne of "Time to Play" magazine visited Beth this morning and with him he brought the summer seasons hottest toys.
Here's a list of toys Beth & Chris were playing with, I mean, demonstrating...
POKEMON POP ‘N BATTLE LAUNCHER AND TARGET Jakks Pacific - Ages 4 and up - $9.99

Kate's Dress Well, it certainly looks like Kate Middleton (former) will have no problem being a fashion icon for years to come!
This is the dress she wore when meeting Michelle and Barack Obama. It is a $340 dress from a designer named Catherine Reiss. As soon as this photo surfaced on the internet, the Reiss online store was flooded with an insane amount of people trying to purchase one. This crashed their website not only once, but twice! The dress is completely sold out online, and in stores.
This isn't Kate's first fashion phenom. For example, her "engagement dress," her "engagement photo dress," and her "day after wedding dress" all completely sold out across England within hours of her wearing them. Blimey!
$25,000 Versace Prom Dress This is the dress that Christina Ricci wore to The Oscars in 1999. It's a couture Versace garment valued at about $25,000. And... it's also this girls high school prom dress!
This young lady's name is Kayla Staskiewicz, and her father had entered her into a contest where the winner would get to wear this elegant dress to their prom.
It must be a great experience for Kayla, and we're happy for her. However, the dress was a size "0." And 10 other girls had to "forfeit" the contest because they couldn't fit into the dress. Hmm.. does that seem right to you? Read more at ParentDish by clicking here.
Maria Shriver on Oprah
Wednesday 05-25-2011 5:14am MT
In case you missed it.. Maria Shriver made a very surprising visit to Oprah Winfrey's big suprise send-off show! It looks like Oprah is also on "team Maria." See if you can pinpoint the subtle jab at Arnold Schwarzenegger as they're talking. Well.. not too subtle.
Obama ENjoys A Guinness, Tom Cruise Flipping Out on Oprah!
Tuesday 05-24-2011 7:23am MT
Obama Enjoys a Guinness!
What a great photo! This may come back to haunt him.. but who cares! This is President Obama on his recent Ireland trip. Which was unfortunately cut short. Here he is sampling Ireland's #1 export! (After the band U2, that is.) Do you think there's anything wrong here? If anything, I feel like he's just keeping up with international relations! Never mind that this is drinking on the job..
All of us at Beth and Friends and KEZ have countless great memories with Bill Austin. We still love talking about our favorite times with him. We'd love to hear about your favorite "Bill moments" as well!
Times he made you laugh, made you think, maybe grossed you out, made you laugh again, etc. :) Just e-mail Beth right now, and share whatever fond memory you have! We may just select your submission to receive some fantastic memora-BILL-ia. Get it? It's brilliant!
Send your e-mail's to Beth right now! Just click here.

Tom Cruise Flipping Out on Oprah!
In honor of Oprah's final network season. We thought we'd relive perhaps the single greatest interview to ever happen on her show. Tom Cruise, who was so smittened over his then-budding relationship with Katie Holmes, that he basically lost his mind on Oprah's couch. Enjoy the madness!
