This week we'll feature the wines from Beringer.
FBeringer Vineyards is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley . In 2001, the estate was placed on the National Register for Historic Places as a Historic District. Jacob Beringer’s foresight in recognizing the quality and potential of grape growing in the Napa Valley is part of the living heritage of Beringer Vineyards . With the present use of state-of-the-art technology applied to age-old traditions, Beringer Vineyards ‘ wines continue to reflect a single-minded dedication to the making of memorable wines from great Napa Valley vineyards.

Beringer Pinot Noir
The Beringer Founders’ Estate Pinot Noir is bright ruby in color and displays ripe currant flavors rounded out by aromas of cedar and spice. This wine has immediate fruit-forward flavors that balance well with the toasty smokiness of the oak. It would pair perfectly with a red wine risotto or grilled salmon. Gentle winemaking techniques were used to protect the delicate qualities of the Pinot Noir grapes in order to preserve the grapes’ lush color and bright fruit flavors once the grapes were crushed. The majority of the wine saw three to four months in French oak to highlight the wine’s toasty, brown spice qualities.

Beringer Chardonnay
Quintessential Napa Valley Chardonnay with fruit from four outstanding vineyards from Carneros to Oakville, aging in 50% French oak and 50% stainless steel for optimum balance at this price point. Bright lemon zest, apple, pineapple, star fruit and mineral aromas and mouth-filling lemon curd, apple and butterscotch flavors. Beringer Napa Valley Chardonnay is an incredible consumer value at $16 retail, and when put on Feature and Display, it gets more lift than key competitors!

Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
To maintain the unique characteristics of the different lots from varying areas of the vineyard, Laurie kept them all separate through vinification and aging. Extended maceration created larger tannins to enhance the lush mouthfeel of the blend and extracted a maximum of color, aromas and flavors. The wines were then aged in small French Nevers oak barrels for roughly a year. After aging, Laurie blended the lots of Cabernet Sauvignon to highlight Knights Valley’s characteristically bright black cherry fruit. A bit of Merlot was added to round out the mid-palate, and a touch of Cabernet Franc lifts the aromatics of the wine and delivers an elegant finish.
Purchase of Beringer products at select retailers gets the consumer $5 off a ticket to the Waste Management Open.
