This week on the Grapevine we are featuring NYPD Pizza. In the studio is Scott Ziegler, one-half of the ingenious brother duo whom founded and own NYPD Pizza. Also joining us is Nikki West, Director of Operations and Wine Buyer/Sommelier. Nikki is going to share with us a variety of ways to pair wine with pizza and other tasty Italian entrtees. Todays wine varietals are: Mirassou California Pinot Noir, Caposaldo Chianti and Folonari Pinot Grigio IGT 2006.

Mirassou® California Pinot Noir 2006
The winemaker's aim with the 2006 Mirassou California Pinot Noir was to gently guide the flavors and components along their journey from vineyard to the bottle, resulting in a wine that is approachable while retaining the hallmark fruit-forward characteristics of Mirassou wines.
Taste Profile: Our 2006 Mirassou California Pinot Noir displays intense flavors of strawberries, pomegranates, and cherries. These primary flavors are enhanced by secondary flavors of floral and spice characters. This wine is at its best if enjoyed within a year of release, but should be able to age in the bottle for up to three years.

Caposaldo Chianti
The grapes for Caposaldo Chianti originate from the hilly provinces surrounding Arezzo and Siena in the Chianti D.O.C.G. region of Tuscany. This is a bright, ruby red wine with a fruity aroma with hints of violet. Caposaldo Chianti displays cherry flavors, a dry, flavorful palate, good body, light tannins an excellent structure and a long, elegant finish bring harmony to this wine whose finesse increases with age. Pairs well with Pasta with tomato- or meat-based sauces, pizza, meaty mushrooms, roasted white meats or grilled meats.

Folonari Pinot Grigio IGT 2006
This dry white wine is 100% Pinot Grigio and stems from one of Italy's finest winemaking facilities. The wine is vinified in stainless steel and Released when youg, vibrant, and fresh; to be enjoyed in its youth. It is a pale, yellow color. Fragrant and fresh bouquet.
