This week we will tasting three delicious wines to taste with the amazing food served at Rare Earth Coffee & Wine Bar.
Yangarra Estates 2007 Chardonnay -
Yangarra is an aboriginal word meaning “from the earth,” and it is in this spirit that we make all our wines. Yangarra Estate is a
single vineyard located in the Blewitt Springs foothills of McLaren Vale – ten miles from the sparkling Gulf St. Vincent. Due to unusual weather during the 2006/2007 growing season, the crop created tiny, intensely-flavored berries that produced concentrated wines with firm structure and pure varietal character. This Chardonnay is all about fruit and
freshness. It delivers tropical pineapple
aromas followed by grapefruit and
tangerine. While the wine initially comes across as crisp and refreshing, there is also an underlying creaminess that indicates the pure intensity and power of the fruit.
Aquinas Napa Valley 2006 Pinot Noir -
A deep Ruby red hue, this Pinot Noir unfolds with the
scent of rose petals, plums, maraschino cherries and
warm cinnamon rolls. The palate bares flavors of
raspberries, cardamom, cloves, orange peel, and
huckleberries with a subtle finish of cedar and cassis.
Enjoy this wine with orange glazed ham, studded with
cloves, served alongside sweet potato tarts, salmon filet
baked or grilled on a cedar plank, prepared with a lemon
slices and sprigs of fresh thyme, or a black bean and rice
veggie burger topped with sautéed onions and teriyaki sauce on a toasted French roll.
Franciscan Napa Valley 2007 Sauvignon Blanc -
Our 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is a labor of love. It is a blend of fruit from several Napa Valley sub-appellations, made in small lots using a variety of techniques to give each lot the most appropriate attention. Treating each small lot to bring out its best provided us with a harmony of vibrancy and fruit, with elegance and suppleness on the palate - a Sauvignon Blanc that expresses Franciscan's unique signature style. The end result is a flavor that is fresh and lively with vibrant, layered flavors of lime, lemongrass and melon with hints of minerality on a crisp, elegant finish.
