Jim Barry “Lodge Hill” Riesling, Clare Valley
This is a brilliant, very pale straw colour, with a greenish tinge. The nose shows lovely floral characters, blossom notes and pear/lime juice aromas. The palate is dry, with sharply focused tangy lemon rind and lemon fruit flavours. Its chalky texture balances the steely crisp acid with a very long, limey finish.
Yalumba “Bush Vine” Grenache, Barossa Valley
At Yalumba, we make Grenache that has a perfumed and aromatic bouquet, a silky smooth texture and a savoury finish. Often described as one of Australia’s unsung heroes, Grenache is naturally lighter in colour than Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon but continually provides us with wonderful, big fruit flavours. Bursting with savoury berry and spice, a slightly higher alcohol level is well-balanced with fruit and oak, resulting in a unique red wine experience quite unlike that found with the more common varieties. Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache – where elegance and harmony are more important than colour and boldness.
Stonier Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula
The Stonier Pinot Noir was fermented in a combination of small open fermenters
and larger Potter fermenters, with a small percentage of stalks and very little
berry crushing. Pressed and transferred to French oak for malolactic fermentation,
and allowed to mature for a further 11 months before racking and bottling, the
wine has great depth of fruit and will continue to develop complexity over the
next few years.
